Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro in a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, confirmed that Alhassan Yusuf would be unavailable for the upcoming clash against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire at the Stade Olympique Alassan Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
Alhassan Yusuf, the defensive midfielder from Royal Antwerp FC in Belgium, sustained an injury during the Super Eagles’ previous game against Equatorial Guinea, leading to his substitution. Peseiro stated that Yusuf is expected to return to contention in the third match against Guinea Bissau.
On a positive note, Peseiro assured fans that Victor Osimhen, the Napoli FC striker and current African Footballer of the Year, will be ready for the Cote d’Ivoire encounter. Additionally, Leicester City’s playmaker, Kelechi Iheanacho, is close to returning, and Terem Moffi of OC Nice FC in France is progressing well to catch up with the squad.
The Super Eagles are gearing up for a crucial clash against Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday at the Stade Olympique, aiming to secure a victory in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.
