The Federal Government has forged a strategic partnership with Lab Four, a U.S. Cybersecurity Institute, to create 50,000 Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) positions over the next three years aimed at fostering economic growth and job creation. This momentous announcement was made during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held on Monday in Abuja, as revealed by Doris Anite, Minister of Industry Trade and Investment.
The MoU, formalizing the collaboration between Lab Four and the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), signifies a concerted effort to propel the BPO initiative forward. Anite underscored the transformative potential of this partnership, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in bridging poverty gaps and fostering social capital development.
“The jobs generated through this partnership have the potential to annually attract up to $1.2 billion into the Nigerian economy through employee remuneration,” Anite stated, highlighting the significant economic impact of the initiative.
NATEP, recognized as a cornerstone national initiative, aims to position Nigeria as a global hub for service exports and talent sourcing. It endeavors to deliver one million service-export jobs over the next five years, driving economic growth and bolstering Nigeria’s global reputation.
Femi Adeluyi, National Coordinator of NATEP, assured transparency in the selection process for these jobs, particularly focusing on the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector. He encouraged Nigerians to explore further details about the program on the NATEP website.
Expressing unwavering commitment to the initiative, Anthony Okhiria, Executive Director of Lab Four, underscored the potential for accelerating talent export and revenue generation across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Furthermore, John Dunham, a representative of the United States Embassy, commended Nigeria’s abundant human resources and rapid growth in the IT sector, recognizing the transformative impact of the partnership.
The collaboration between the Federal Government and Lab Four signifies Nigeria’s determination to harness its human capital potential and contribute significantly to the global service export and outsourcing industry. With the global talent sourcing industry projected to reach $904.948 billion by 2027, Nigeria stands poised to make significant strides in this sector, providing high-quality talent and driving economic growth.
