The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany has commended the AFOS Foundation for its dedication to Agribusiness Projects in Nigeria, acknowledging the organization’s impactful initiatives in a meeting held in Lagos.
In a statement released by Oladipupo Akoni, CEO and Country Representative of AFOS Nigeria, on Wednesday, the praise from Manuel Neumann, Senior Policy Officer of BMZ, highlighted AFOS Foundation’s significant contributions to capacity building and entrepreneurial development in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The meeting, which convened top officials from AFOS Foundation, aimed to evaluate ongoing projects and interventions in Nigeria and across Africa, exploring avenues for collaboration with BMZ and discussing strategies to enhance existing initiatives.
Bernhard Vester, Managing Director of AFOS Foundation, underscored the milestone achievement of completing the Agricultural Training Centre building and initiating Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Agrifinance, and Management programs. Vester reiterated the foundation’s commitment to empowering agripreneurs and fostering inclusive economic growth in Nigeria.
Oladipupo Akoni emphasized the critical role of AFOS projects in addressing key societal challenges, including food insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and youth migration. The projects aim to promote digital agriculture, improve the efficiency of local agricultural value chains, and enhance microfinance accessibility through microinsurance policies tailored for farmers.
Dietmar Speckmaier, International Long-term Expert at AFOS Nigeria-INGO, highlighted the foundation’s mission to promote sustainable agricultural growth. He announced the imminent accreditation of the Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) by the Auslandshandelskammer (AHK), marking a significant milestone in advancing agricultural development and empowerment in Nigeria.
The recognition from BMZ underscores AFOS Foundation’s pivotal role in driving positive change and fostering agricultural development in Nigeria, signaling a promising trajectory for sustainable growth and prosperity in the country.
