Google is set to unveil updated Street View imagery across nearly 80 countries, as revealed in a now-removed blog post cited by The Verge. New images will be available in locations such as Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Japan, the Philippines, Rwanda, Serbia, and South Africa.
The expansion also includes countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Namibia, Liechtenstein, and Paraguay, where Street View has never been offered. Google plans to leverage its portable Street View camera, launched in 2022, to capture images from even more locations.
Additionally, Google Maps and Google Earth will feature improved satellite imagery, enhanced by the company’s cloud-removal AI tool for brighter, clearer images. Users will soon access historical imagery on Google Earth’s web and mobile apps, allowing easier comparisons of satellite images over time.
The Verge has reached out to Google for more information regarding the removal of the blog post but has yet to receive a response.
