Nigeria and Denmark are collaborating on a Green Transition, with the aim of fostering Employment and mutual Economic Growth, according to Iziaq Salako, the Minister of State for Environment.
Speaking at a Meeting in Abuja on the Nigeria and Denmark Green Partnership, Salako emphasised the Ministry’s commitment to preventing disasters like Floods that can lead to poverty. He highlighted the Ministry’s efforts, including the piloting of a Sovereign Green Bond, to address Environmental challenges and ensure Food Security by combating land degradation.
Salako stressed that Climate Change is a Global concern that requires collaborative efforts for effective resolution.
In response, Dan Jorgensen, the Danish Minister of Development Cooperation and Global Policy, pledged Denmark’s commitment to partnering Nigeria and Africa in advancing the Green Economy. Jorgensen acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigeria and Africa in dealing with Climate Change and expressed a desire for collaboration in Climate mitigation, financing, and adaptation. He also expressed a commitment to setting an example that can inspire others and indicated a willingness to learn from each other for positive outcomes at the upcoming COP 28.
During the Meeting, discussions focused on exploring potential areas of cooperation aligned with Nigeria’s priorities for the Green Transition, Climate Change adaptation, and the forthcoming CoP 28.
