Oluwatoyin Gafaar, Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) says the ‘Keep Fit Lagos’ monthly aerobics programme would be extended to the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Gafaar said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.
He said the commission would build on the success of the maiden Keep Fit Lagos monthly aerobics programme held on Dec. 9 on Lagos Island.
“The programme will be held simultaneously with all the LGAs to allow people in the other local governments to have a feel of what our people here have enjoyed because many would have watched the programme and will want to be part of it.
“We don’t discriminate, this programme is for all as long as they register to be part of it. Our doors are open to all citizens.
The aim of this programme is to keep our citizens fit because a healthy people is a wealthy nation. We want our people to be healthy.
“We want our people to be healthy, so we will do everything we can do to sustain the programme,” he said.
NAN reports that the LSSC in partnership with the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Damilare Orimoloye, organised the maiden edition of the Keep Fit Lagos monthly aerobics programme.
The maiden session, which featured aerobics, flexibility, strengthening and stability exercises as well as health talks, attracted a large turnout of participants from all over Lagos.
Gafaar explained that the Keep Fit Lagos monthly aerobics programme was in line with the welfare programme of the government targeted at every individual in Lagos.
