The Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) is gearing up for its seventh edition, slated for 2024, with a renewed focus on fostering collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the country’s energy sector.
James Shindi, Chief Executive of Brevity Anderson, consultants to NIES, announced the summit’s agenda, highlighting a new session titled the Nigerian Petroleum Producers’ Forum. This session, set to feature at the forefront of discussions, aims to provide a platform for industry leaders to address pressing challenges and opportunities facing independent energy producers.
In a statement released on Sunday, Shindi emphasized the summit’s role as a vital forum for sharing insights and perspectives on navigating the ever-evolving energy landscape. The session’s sub-theme, “Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience: Empowering Independent Producers in the Dynamic Energy Era,” underscores its dedication to empowering independent producers and ensuring a resilient energy sector for sustainable growth.
The agenda encompasses addressing current challenges encountered by independent energy producers and devising actionable strategies to promote innovation, collaboration, and resilience within the sector. Additionally, it aims to explore innovative approaches to bolster the competitiveness and sustainability of energy producers, while stressing the importance of stakeholder collaboration for mutual benefit.
Furthermore, the session seeks to identify policy interventions to support independent producers in adapting to the dynamic energy landscape, providing practical inputs for policymakers. It aims to achieve this by sharing best practices and success stories from various regions.
Distinguished speakers slated for the event include Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), and Osagie Okunbor, Country Chair/CEO of Shell Companies in Nigeria/Chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS). Other prominent figures include Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and Abdulrazaq Isa, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group/Waltersmith Group, who will deliver the opening keynote speech.
