The Federal Government officially unveiled the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) on Monday. The initiative, launched by Vice President Kashim Shettima in Gombe, seeks to capitalize on the $8.79 trillion Global Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) Market.
Vice President Shettima, speaking at the launch event, emphasized the pivotal role of OTNI in redirecting the country’s talents towards global opportunities. He highlighted the potential for job creation in the millions and significant expansion of Nigeria’s BPO and Information Technology-enabled services sector.
“This initiative is a strategic move towards linking global firms with the abundance of talents and skills in Nigeria,” remarked Vice President Shettima. He pointed out Nigeria’s competitive advantages, including talent abundance, cost competitiveness, improving ICT infrastructure, and advantageous geographical location.
Shettima also commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and economic strategy, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms would pave the way for a brighter economic future. He described outsourcing as not just an efficiency strategy but also a means to retain talents and drive national development.
The Outsource to Nigeria Initiative aims to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors, with the goal of propelling unprecedented growth in Nigeria’s BPO and IT-enabled services sector. Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe lauded the initiative’s launch in the state, citing Gombe’s conducive environment for technology innovation and economic progress.
Founder/CEO of OTNI, Amal Hassan, highlighted Nigeria’s potential in the African BPO industry and outlined the initiative’s approach. Leveraging a digital platform called ‘WorkNation,’ OTNI aims to connect Nigerian youth with global job opportunities and attract investments.
The launch of the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging the country’s talent pool for economic advancement. With strategic partnerships and streamlined processes, OTNI seeks to position Nigeria as a preferred outsourcing destination on the global stage.
