Ride-hailing app Uber and Lagos state officials have reached an agreement after a month-long disagreement over data sharing.
The details of the agreement have not been made public, but it appears both sides made concessions. Lagos officials had previously requested access to real-time data from Uber, while Uber raised privacy concerns.
The agreement comes after Lagos impounded vehicles driven by Uber partners. Those vehicles have since been released.
Independent driver concerns remain
While the data dispute is resolved, some Uber drivers in Lagos are unhappy with other aspects of the service. Drivers would like to see a reduction in Uber’s commission on fares and an acknowledgement of the challenges they face, such as long lines for gas and rising costs.
Some drivers also allege that Uber has lowered fares, making it difficult to earn a living.
