The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Ministry of Aviation have agreed to collaborate on securing reinsurance for the aviation industry. This was announced by Olusegun Omosehin, Commissioner for Insurance at NAICOM, during a visit to Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in Abuja.
Omosehin emphasized that the partnership is essential for improving Nigeria’s global image and fostering credible relationships with international stakeholders. He highlighted the importance of adhering to local content laws and the global risk-sharing practice, while also focusing on developing local expertise and reducing capital flight to support the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Omosehin reaffirmed NAICOM’s commitment to regulating and advancing the insurance industry in Nigeria, as well as protecting insurance policyholders and public trust.
Minister Keyamo noted the meeting was vital for addressing key issues affecting domestic airline operations and announced plans for a stakeholders’ meeting involving NAICOM, airline operators, and insurance companies to find mutually agreeable solutions.
The meeting was also attended by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku.
