Google Cloud has unveiled a new blockchain remote procedure call (RPC) service designed to support Web3 development by enabling developers to access blockchain data via API calls. Initially, the service supports the Ethereum mainnet and its test networks, with plans to extend compatibility to other blockchains over the next year.
The “Blockchain RPC” service aligns with the Ethereum JSON-RPC standard, allowing for easy integration into existing applications. This offering caters to a broad spectrum of users, from startups needing a straightforward blockchain entry to large enterprises seeking a reliable infrastructure solution.
This new service positions Google Cloud to compete with established RPC providers like Infura, Alchemy, QuickNode, and Ankr, which enable blockchain interaction without the need for full nodes. Google Cloud’s RPC service includes a free tier supporting up to 100 requests per second, which is suitable for real-time and data-intensive applications.
In addition to the RPC service, Google Cloud continues to offer other blockchain-focused infrastructure services, including node hosting and data analytics for blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, and Aptos.
