The recently concluded Lagos AI Combinator Hackathon, organised by Ryze Labs, brought together developers to explore AI and Web3 innovations using the Eliza Framework. The two-day event awarded over $5,000 in prizes, offering participants a platform to design AI-powered solutions and gain global visibility.
Supported by Web3 Afrika, LetsDap, Superteam Nigeria, and sponsored by Shawmakesmagic, the hackathon featured creative pitches from developers leveraging the Eliza Framework, a fast-growing GitHub tool for AI agent development.
Ryze Labs CEO, Matthew Graham, described Nigeria as the “Silicon Valley of Africa,” highlighting its youthful talent and over 35% cryptocurrency adoption rate. “AI agents are the most significant innovation since DeFi, and events like this help us find and support top-tier talent,” he said.
Paul-Mary Omile, Ryze Labs’ Investment Analyst, noted that the company’s $5 million AI-focused fund aims to support promising AI and Web3 startups across emerging markets, including Nigeria.
The hackathon ended with Demo Day, where winners were announced:
– SupplyVest – First place for enhancing SME procurement and trade through AI-powered DeFi tools.
– ChattaTrader – Second place for enabling DeFi token trading via voice, text, and screenshots.
– Magent – Third place for offering AI-driven marketing strategies through trend analysis and data insights.
With successful events held in China and now Nigeria, Ryze Labs plans its next hackathon in India, reaffirming its mission to empower global innovators.
