The Ministry of Trade and Investment has announced plans to fully digitise its operations by the end of 2025, aiming to improve efficiency and modernise service delivery.
Jumoke Oduwole made the announcement during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministry and the AIG Imoukhuede Foundation in Abuja. The event took place alongside the ministry’s Top Management Retreat.
Oduwole emphasised the urgency of the transition, stating that the ministry is just beginning its digitalisation journey, with a firm deadline set for the end of 2025. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and commended agency heads for their role in driving the initiative.
Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, co-founder of the AIG Imoukhuede Foundation, pledged the foundation’s support, highlighting its previous role in automating the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. She outlined three focus areas for the partnership: digitalisation, capacity building, and performance management.
The partnership aims to automate the ministry’s processes, align them with global standards, and equip civil servants with the skills needed to utilise emerging technologies. Performance management systems will also be introduced to track progress and ensure the success of the reforms.
The event concluded with the signing of a performance bond between the ministry, its agencies, and the AIG Imoukhuede Foundation. The occasion also marked Oduwole’s first 100 days in office.
