In a collaborative effort to overcome the barriers to e-commerce growth in Nigeria, Glovo, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), and the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy are set to host an e-commerce summit on February 5, 2025. The summit, themed “Accelerating E-commerce through Digital and Physical Infrastructure Integration,” will bring together key industry players to discuss challenges and opportunities while fostering sustainable growth for the sector.
The event will feature a keynote address by Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister for Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, providing critical insights into the government’s vision for digital commerce and inclusive economic growth.
Glovo Nigeria’s General Manager, Lamide Akinola, emphasized the company’s commitment to driving digital transformation, especially for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The launch of the ‘Yellow Effect Report’ will also offer actionable insights to propel the industry forward.
Tola Odeyemi, Postmaster General of NIPOST, acknowledged the evolving digital economy but highlighted the logistical gaps, particularly in last-mile delivery, that hinder e-commerce growth in the country. The summit aims to integrate policy, innovation, and infrastructure to foster inclusive economic growth.
Chidera Akwuba, Regional Head of Government and Public Relations at Glovo, underscored the importance of collaboration in unlocking Nigeria’s e-commerce potential and creating a seamless logistics network to boost efficiency and accessibility for both businesses and consumers.
